Well, let's see...

I have been teaching at Rock Valley College since the Fall of 1993.  I came here from the Northeast Ohio area, where I taught part time at both Cuyahoga Community College and Cleveland State University.  I also attended both of these schools as a student, earning the following degrees:

Associate of Arts, Cuyahoga Community College
Bachelor of Science, Cleveland State University
Master of Science in Mathematics, Cleveland State University

While earning credits toward the B.S. degree, I had a minor in education, which certified me to teach secondary school (7-12 grade) in the state of Ohio.  This certification has expired since I no longer live there, but the courses I took and field work I did have helped me understand how to teach.  I owe a great deal to that experience.

On a more personal level, I'm married to my best friend,
Cassi Paslick, who also teaches at RVC.  We have a really great kid, Emma, and the three of us live happily ever after.  Really.

I love photography, particularly nature photography.  I've had the pleasure to pursue this hobby in such wonderful places as Alaska, Jamaica, and Scotland, as well as a variety of locations around the midwest.  Some of my best images, though, have been taken in my own back yard.  Good photography isn't as much about what you see as it is how you see.

For as long as I can remember, I have been a huge fan of music in a variety of genres.  I don't play any instruments, but have a voracious appetite for good music.  One of my other passions is single malt Scotch and, in fact, most things Scottish.  Would that make me a Scot-o-phile?

In the summer of 2008, I became a beekeeper, in as much as anyone can actually "keep" honeybees.  I started with a bit of curiosity and a single beehive, but quickly developed a genuine passion for it.  That was before we were able to harvest a single drop of honey!  My daughter has since become my beekeeping partner and, together, we tend three large beehives on our land.

More to come... when I think of something worth adding.
