An academic competition providing high school students an opportunity
to critically think how free markets operate in a global economy.
The Global Economic Summit of High School Students is an applied academic competition designed to provide an opportunity to critically think about how free markets operate in a global economy. Students interact with their regional peers to discuss the possibilities of improving people’s lives through economic development. Delegates from each high schools will represented a country that spans the globe. The delegates present the economic situation of their country through display boards, state of the nation essays and oral presentations and ways to improve its quality of life through economic development as well as introduce free trade agreements to visiting nations.

Global Economic Summit of High School Students
Auburn, Guiford, Hononegah, North Boone, and South Beloit High Schools present their countries flags of India, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Sri Lanka, and Hong Kong, respectively, at the Global Economic Summit hosted by the Rock Valley College Students In Free Enterprise on December 3, 2005 at RVC.

Delegate representing Hong Kong, Darious Pittman of South Beloit High School, addresses the Summit regarding proposed Free Trade agreement between the countries which will improve the quality of life for all peoples.

The panel judges included of area economic experts, including Dr. Terry Borg, Director of Northern Illinois University’s (NIU) College of Education External Programs Office, Charles Sicotte of Rock Valley College, and international businessman Leo Peña.
